Ok, so i got a CFM short throw for the contour (00-02 focus) got the riser plate as needed, and i just installed the short throw and i lost my reverse:confused:!
I guess i need a lockout delete, but can't i just rig something up to delete it rather than paying 24$ for one from CFM?? I am at a complete loss as of how that "lock" even kept it out of reverse?
Please help, i would like to use my reverse sometime soon:help:.
I have all other gears as i should, but also lost my return spring from lack of space for the spring.. I know i can grind down a spot in the plate or washer i had to use to raise it even higher...

the lockout that was on the shifter has nothing to do with actually getting it into reverse, short of blocking the shifter from going towards the reverse position in the stock setup. you can actually remove the lockout piece on the stock shifter and not have issues.

can you get a picture of the shifter installed, without the boot or knob? also, check underneath to make sure the lower cable mount isnt contacting anything when trying to get to reverse. if it isnt, then try reinstalling the stock shifter and make sure you can get to reverse.

I looked under and nothing is blocking the lower cable from moving anywhere, i reenstalled the stock shifter and have reverse, only when i have that big plastic piece on with it.

Here are some pictures.

Hope this helps..

Edit; I did remove the little metal "ramp" on the lower right side and still no reverse..

something that looks odd is where you put the washers. try putting them under the riser plate.

whatever is causing it, its very weird that its only affecting reverse and not any other gears.

reinstall the short throw and use factory knob. They are just like the focus with the reverse lockout. Thats what i did to mine and worked perfect.

I can't use the factory reverse lockout on the CFM, it is way to wide.

Any way, i did NOT lose reverse, it is just a little trickey to try to get into.
