Hey I was wondering if anyone knew a good resistance spec for the plug wires on a Duratec. I know my electronics book says a general rule of thumb is 4000 ohms per foot, but I was wondering if you guys knew anything a little more precise. I see everyone talking about how this engines are picky about the plug wires. I have the horrible stuttering problem that seems to be a common problem with these cars...it is getting really bad. So instead of just replacing everything, I just am trying to go through and check everything. I am not going to lie though, I don't know if anyone of the previous owners has changed the wires in its life time so I think that is the first place to check.

That is a good rule of thumb.

If you want to know for sure try this: Spray the plug wires with water from a spray bottle, make sure you get the boots also.

Now drive it, if it is worse then wires are the problem.

Replace the plugs too, they are cheap and easy to do.

if your not sure they have ever been change why screw around with it? Just replace the plugs and wires as basic maintinence ...

I probably will later but I have ZERO money...after that 3L swap and I just put in three hundred dollars worth of rear brakes and I need to change out my rear struts and springs, I don't have any money. But I need the car so if somethings not broke, I am not going to just replace it.
