well, i parked in the driveway, and noticed that from the day or night befor there was a dryed up puddle of fluid.. i at first thought that it was from my pops when he changed the lawnmowers oil...

but i went too work "3rd shift" and when i started my car too leave and go home i heard a whine sound and i back out and there is a huge puddle of oil on the ground and its powersteering fluid.

now i looked too inspect and all i can see is fluid on the drivers side boot right by the inner tie rod.

Now has anyone ever heard of a rack breaking from just being parked? or does this sound like a power steering line. and ive done some searching and i saw that it make take 7 hours too replace lines...?

oh, i have a 98 contour svt.

The rack seal inside the boot failed, a anot uncommon problem. Mine did it.

It failed before being parked, probably. It just took a while for the fluid to fill the boot then leak to the ground.

I regret to inform you that you have a rack replacement in your immediate future. PITA.

Just bought my 1998.5 SVT and it came free with that feature. I noticed it AFTER I left the lot. Leaked all over my exhaust, so the smoke was billowing from under the hood. It's been in the shop since Sunday. It should be fixed by Thursday. Thank gosh the dealer said that they'd fix it for free...
