i can get a 04 taurus duratec with 44k on it, but it has been sitting since 06.
can i get that engine in my car without all the svt parts and just do a basic 3.0l swap with the stock 2.5 parts? i am really confused..:shrug:

yes you can swap it over using the base 2.5 parts but you'd make more power just keeping the taurus intake and cams and doing a full swap\

the 04 cams are better than stock 2.5 stuff and so are the intake and TB

The 3L has bigger Valves, but the cams have less lift then the 2.5L cams. So, the Cams are different but not better. If you put the Contour cams on you would have more lift and bigger valves.

Then with the full three liter swap you have to come up with EGR, Fuel, and Throttle bracket fixes. There are gives and take either way you look at it. The ported 3L requires porting. Everything else bolts up like before.

How much power will the 3.0 give me over the 2.5..?

he just answered it. approx 25hp more. ur sig does not say what u have, so am guessing its a 2.5 v6. i'd say 45-50hp. am not sure about the wiring harness. u might need an svt pcm. someone who knows for sure will chime in.

I dont think so....:shrug:

I think he should do a full swap, not just because it's what I did, but also because his puny little SE snake nest wont really be adequate for the 3.0's breathing needs, and his tiny little 17lb injectors would be at 110+ duty cycle trying to feed it.

if he's absolutely concerned about it looking stock, he could do a hybrid with some success with the se stuff, would still want to get some 19lb'rs in there though.
