Project: Ugly Betty

She's alive again! lol

She's still not 100%, but pretty darn good. I ran out of daylight so I'm sure it's something stupid that I can't see that's causing the problems. I plan on taking her to work tomorrow and play with her some more.

Chris :D

I'm pretty sure the rain was causing my problems. The car ran good today and I expect it to continue to run well without fussing with it. Considering I had to do the install in the rain yesterday the engine and electronics did get quite wet. I tried to keep the important stuff covered, but it was inevitable. Anyways, here's the latest pics from the weekend. Not a lot, but I was busy working. :D

I'd like to get SVT bumpers on it eventually. Another idea is cutting the tips off the exhaust and hiding some turn downs under the bumper. Make her a little more stealthy.

Thanks,

Chris

Is it just me or are you exhaust tips sticking out far? Hmmm...

This is my car...Maybe it's a pre98/98+ difference in bumpers, but I always thought they were nearly the same shape.

Well after finishing up the last of the odds and ends things seem to be going well. I've finally got some repeated codes to work on. It's the usual 171/174. I'm pretty darn sure there's no vacuum leaks so I'm leaning towards a bad MAF. I already cleaned it, but to no avail. I was looking at the Rockauto website and they list the same PN for a SE and SVT MAF. I know the housings are different, but what about the physical sensor itself? Can I swap the SVT with my known good MAF from the SE to test? Any other suggestions? Also, the front end seems to torque steer like a B! now. Is this normal for the SVT's or perhaps I've got something screwy going on. I checked my ball joint, tie rods and Toe settings and all seems well. Maybe a bit too much toe out for the street (1/8"), but we run that on the racecar all day long. It didn't effect it before the swap???

As always any suggestions welcome.

Thanks,

Chris

PS: Thanks for mentioning the firing order. Sure enough I did have it wrong the first time. Just goes to show you, check and double check everything!

Read the entire thread. Sounds like the car is finally running well which is good to hear.

Do was the first motor OK? Did you just have the spark plug wires crossed somewhere?

I'm not 100% sure. For my sanity and wallet, I hope that the motor was cracked. Otherwise, where was the milky white substance coming from. I still can't find where the crack is, so I'm still a bit skeptical, but??? Also for my wallet, I'm hoping that it was the firing order and I can now reassemble and/or sell the engine. To be quite honest, I haven't been out to the garage to play with it yet. Too cold and too busy.

Thanks,

Chris
