Ok heres the deal last week the scary light came on (check engine) so I scanned it and it was a p0118 coolant temp sensor high input error....so rite then installed a new one here it is a week later and again same damn code.... could I have gotten a bad sensor? could it be a bad antifreeze water mix? or has someone else had this problem... car doesnt run hot shows a click under half on the gauge but reads 197-214 with a temp gun... please help if you can... Its driving me nuts....ps the wire harness is ok no broken wires and has a good connectiion... first pain in the real pain problem I've ever had with the car and it has 180,000 on it.

P0118

Some reasons could be:
1) Circuit is open (suspect wiring or connector)
2) Circuit is shorted to reference volt
3) Sensor is damaged or has failed
4) PCM has failed.

Assume 4 is out. New sensor, so 3 is out. Which leaves 1 and 2, a wiring or connector issue. Check connector and wiring from sensor to PCM. One (two) of the wires is (are) probably chaffed and expose.

Make certain you replaced the correct sensor. There are two: One for the guage, one for the computer.

Unplug the ECT, jumper the pins of the harness connector, and run a KOER test. You should then get a DTC that is complementary to the P0118 if the wiring harness and PCM are okay.
