Oil Drain Plug Gasket Leaking

On my last oil change I decided to swap out the rubber ring gasket for a new Felpro plastic gasket because the rubber was broken. Well, bad idea, because now my new oil is dripping out of the drain plug, and even when I tighten it down hard, I can't get it to stop dripping. Any idea on how to make this stop leaking? Rubber ring gasket is gone.

Ugh I feel your pain. I'm losing about a drop a day since I changed my oil and realized the threads were damaged. For now I'm letting it go simply because draining it to put it back in later seems pointless to me.

Get a new drain plug. It's the best way. Anything else may not be completely leak free and will probably have to be replaced again at the next oil change.

Alright... I guess I'll drain what's in there and then put it back in once I replace the gasket. The oil only has like 400 miles on it.

If you want to reuse the oil, I suggest you use a pump to suction it from the dipstick. I would not reuse the oil after draining it from the drain plug.

If the oil is drained into a clean receptacle what difference does it make wether it came out of the top of the engine of the bottom of the engine?

When pouring the oil back in I would suggest not pouring the last little bit in and then topping it off with a fresh quart.

...
When was the last time you changed oil on a squeeky clean oil pan (and bolt)?
