Lately when driving my car i've noticed that when im up to normal criusing speed and i push on the gas a lilttle too much it seems like the trans is slipping, the car goes forward but not all the power is going to the wheels, my car currently has 83,xxx miles, and I hope something isn't wrong with the transmission

Do the RPMs climb but the car dosen't go any faster? If that is happening it is a good chance your clutch is slipping.

The rpms do climb and the car goes no where then out of no where it will "catch" and it feels like the car "boosts" as the power will finally connect to the wheels

Place the car in 1st, accelerate easily to 15-20mph.
Shift to 5th and FLOOR the accelerator. If the RPM's climb faster than the Speedo, your clutch is worn and slipping.

The rev's climb almost to redline and i gain little speed, if the clutch is worn what would you guys recommend for a replacement? I'm going to be adding a few mods, so i really don't want a stock one

Just get a Spec stage 1 clutch if you don't plan to do anything serious regarding performance mods.

Might as well get a lighter Fidanza flywheel at the same time.

Clutches suck, too much money ;)

i had a similar problem. my rpm's wouldn't jump...but depending on how paranoid i was i'd swear they were moving faster than the car was.

basically if i was cruising at 3k and floor the accelerator the car would kind of lurch back and forth a few times, until the rpms got high and then it'd wake back up.

changed plugs and wires and all was well.

yea matt your clutch is done. i had the same prob. i put a centerforce in. i dont like it. my next clutch will be a stock svt. thats just what i want and MO. while you do the clutch why not a LSD? lol i plan in throwing out the centerforce then new trans, LSD, flywheel

if you are in there changing the clutch you should at a minumun if you can afford it put a LSD in there if nto upgrade the trans ...

All the power you will put it through, short of a well built and topped out 3L, or FI.

For anything short of FI or 3.0, a stock SVT clutch will work nicely. For a clutch to wear out this soon, someone must have been mistreating it. If no adjustment in driving technique is expected, maybe then a Spec type clutch would be advisable but I'm reminded of a thread in the general section where a guy has replaced his Spec 1 several times and he's still breaking them so...............:help: Just a thought.
