On 1995 w V6 is successful, but it is necessary to be sure that new gear is pressed on shaft far enough so that it does not contact adjacent surface. First time I put it back together, it was too close, and was binding, did not register, motor was warm to touch when removed. After pressing on a little bit further, I had about 1 mm of clearance between worm gear and surface, odometer registers properly.
Gear fits shaft quite tightly, it's necessary to place shaft that protrudes from back side of motor against a hard metal surface when pressing on gear, to avoid damaging motor.
