how can i check the codesfor my 95 contour se???? the guy at autozone said it was obdii and i searched for plug to connect to so i can scan my car and cant find it... please help!!!! how can i scan my car!!

A 95 is a OBD.

96 and up are OBD2.

Yeah, OBD1 - my '95 never has a CEL so I don't know how to check codes :laugh:

If I Remember Correctly. I believe the connector is between the strut tower and fuse box. It's only been about 7 years since I was under the hood of my 95.

that's it. Not sure how to read the codes without a code reader. Look around, you might be able to get one for a reasonable price.

No problem. Check O'Reilly's, NAPA, Advance, Zone etc, they may carry a reader also for a comparable price.

the cheap readers only had a led bulb and you counted the blinks. If you read in a cheap chiltons or hayes manual you can also test with a test meter or light and a jumper wire.

Its spelled out in the aftermarket service manuals such as a chiltons or hayes. Check your local library for such book. My local libraries have them on the shelf and I have one nearby with professional Mitchell repair books in their reference section. My state has an online library service that gets chiltons online repair service for state residents.
