I put the accelerator to the floor and it won't downshift. Have replaced throttle sensor and transmission fluid. 2.0 automatic. thanks.

why do u have two posts for the same question? like i said in ur first post; its because when ford made the car, they meant for the car to go UP in gears when u step on the accelerator, and not DOWN.

I think he is talking about the atx downshifting out of overdrive when you step on the gas to say pass someone on the highway.

but we need more info from the op. please discribe the situation where this happens.

No passing downshift. Speed is 40+? Engine bogs down because the
transaxle not downshifting.
Sorry about the other thread. I did not see it go through.

Make sure accelerator cable is reinstalled properly. Check ATfluid (level and condition). Is the "O/D off" light on? (or flashing). Check Manual lever position sensor (aka Transmission Range Sensor).

good luck with that I am having the same problem with my taurus the speed snesor sure fixed alot of it but not all. one of the alures of the SVT contour manual transmission. good luck I hope the sensors/adjustment fix it. I had some ford techs the one the dealer mechanics recomend mrecon/dextron V as being able to fix some ford trans problems they also discussed Ford Motorsport frition modifier as being os some use but ultimately didn't advise that I use that. the friction modifire is suppose to be goo for quieting powersteering pumps though. hope that helps.

A good vehicle speed sensor also necessary to auto trans downshifting for passing gear, but seems like that part bad should be messing up some other things too, like normal UP shifting.

I am getting a low Tps check engine light now. I've replaced it
already. Going to check wiring next. Would this be the problem ?
Thanks.

Maybe. Needs good TPS signal to determine if load sufficient to downshift, along with vehicle speed sensor to determine if enough speed (as in more load) to do same. Pull the TPS back off and check for damage, some people have trouble installing without damaging the end contact. It's spring loaded and has to go in in a certain way, swinging it in to avoid damage. At least the last one I did was like that.
