No Clutch Resistance/Pressure after bleeding

Iv'e been driving my Contour since iv'e got it with little to no issues. But when I got into my car yesterday I struggled to get it in gear. When I got to where I was going, I literally couldn't get it into any gear with the engine on. When I finally forced it into 1st gear I drove it back home in 1st with my hazard lights on and now it wont shift gears at all, and there is no resistance in the clutch when depressing. It does however shift gears fine with the engine off, and the car still turns on when depressing the clutch.

I looked up countless solutions and found that I had barely any brake fluid in the reservoir, so I topped it all the way up. And was told to bleed the slave valve. As soon as I did that the clutch lost what little pressure it did have on the first bleed and now it's seemingly gotten worse, where I could feel a slight resistance before, now it just hits the floor when I push it. I've bled it countless times to no avail.
Any possible solutions???

I just had this exact issue, terrible shifting. Attempted a bleed and completly lost the peddle. Master cylinder was defective on mine.

check for leaks under the transmission, if none, you probably need to bleed it more and correctly.
if you see any leakage your slave cylinder is done

Thanks for the input, I'm going to try replacing the master cylinder.
and pray its not anything worse! lol

the car isn't leaking any fluids...I also found that when bleeding the clutch that the brake reservoir remained full, maybe I've been bleeding it wrong, I've done the exact procedure posted in these forums though.

So I finally got around to replacing the master cylinder, and it has made zero difference. I'm not sure what the problem is & I would gravity bleed it but I don't have any jackstands...I do have two jacks though?

u dont need jackstands. u can lay on teh floor reach up and get the bleeder. just pop it open and wait a bunch of minutes. easy breezy beautiful

Nothing personal intended at all by this, but can't tell where post is going.

DO NOT GET UNDER ANY CAR SUPPORTED BY A JACK ONLY!!!!!!

I have had a car jacked up with hydraulic jack and knew better, I was standing by side of car looking at a part I had just removed and jack blew out a seal and car fell to the ground. Jack was not that old either, and you really should consider the quality of today's likely Chinese made jack. 'Nuff said.

ALWAYS use a secondary failsafe like a jackstand under car if you are under it.

What is your life worth? And yes, I was totally stupid the day I did it.

EXCELLENT advice and well worth repeating. Yes indeed, backup is a MUST HAVE!!!

Thanks for all the advice, it turns out my clutch is out, so I purchased a gripforce clutch kit off of eBay, and
a mechanic is charging me 300$ to put it in...which I don't think is that bad, but he's also telling me that when you
remove the flywheel/transmisson or SOMETHING like that, that you HAVE to get this certain bolt "refashioned" or else your clutch
will wear out sooner, iv'e never heard of anything like that, but apparently a shop down the road does this for 65$?? Does that sound right?
IDK, sounds a bit sketch to me.

I misunderstood what he said... Apparently he was talking about having the flywheel resurfaced at a machine shop, and it costing 40$...

Not the engine. I replaced my clutch/flywheel/differential on jack stands in my garage without removing the engine.

Of course, it took two weekends. Would have been faster if I had a lift.

Would you care to elaborate on your process,
I'd be more than happy to show him your process.
