is it possible to take a "knee panel" (panel below steering wheel) out of a mystique, with a "map compartment", and fit it in the contour? are they the same minus the compartment?

I do not believe its possible. IIRC rouar tried and the bolts didn't line up. Also there are wiring harnesses in the way. So if that is true then swapping the whole dash would be required.
