Mystery Hose!

The other day I noticed a hose end just sitting right by the battery box. At first, I thought it might be a part of the wire casing leading to the battery. Then at second glance I noticed it was definitely a hose. So basically I have this hose that is isn't connected to anything. I know there are some hoses like that in cars, like a coolant overflow hose, but I don't think this is one of those. Please help me figure out what this is!

I have a picture, but to describe the location... It is just to the left of the battery and is just below it. It looks like a black housing, almost like where the break booster line goes to.

zetec... atx? could be an atx vent tube? where is the origin of connection? I suggest you take the battery out and assess the situation from there and see if you find another hose? It may have been sliced...

the arrow points to where the tube starts, or where it connects to. The end that is open is actually routed in front of the battery and it just stops there. If you take a look at the open end picture again you will notice a wire that just passes over the corner of the fuse box. I have the mystery hose run along with that. It actually is long enough where it kind of just tucks nicely to the front/right of the fuse box.

So where should this be going to? Or where is the other end of the hose?? :)

It's normal route is to terminate abruptly right behind the battery. On my ATX there is a plastic clip on one of the battery tiedowns that holds the hose in place. On mine it also makes a 180 degree bend immediately before terminating, so it is possible that yours was clipped/sliced accidentally. If you can situate it so that it's not pinched and the open end is open to the environment I think that would be good enough.
