so I'm trying to replace the axle seals before I have to try and replace them with it in the car. I've searched the shiz out of the forums, and my e-mails, and still haven't turned up with it.

apparently the forum search function doesn't support boolean, so if you search "axle seal" or axle-seal, it still gives you every thread that ever had the words axle or seal typed in them...

so at any rate, I know napa carries the item, and the napa one I have in there now says F437A on it, if I remember right, the ford model one had dashes in it, like F-437-A, as well as a ford oval and some other number.

I'm going to feel pretty stupid if the actual part number turns out to be F437A, but I want to make sure before I ride a bicycle up to napa and dont have the right information.

it would probably be a good idea to make a sticky for the transaxle section with all the part numbers for bearings, seals, shims ect that one would need to rebuild an MTX75. sort of like the one we have in the 3l subforums...

thanks in advance for the help guys

[edit]

checked Rockauto and they're saying BRS46 is the Motorcraft part number for a 2.5 5 spd contour output shaft/axle seal, they also list another number, F5RZ1S177AA, which I seem to want to think was that other number on the original ford part that I mentioned earlier.

if somebody could confirm this, I think I might have enough information to take to NAPA with me tomorrow.

The original Ford part # was F5RZ-1S177-AA. Which has been replaced with the Motorcraft BRS-46.

Tech Cost $6.62 (cad)
Retail $12.04 (cad)

sweet, thanks for clearing that up man.

napa ordered me one yesterday, need to go pick it up now. price for napa brand is 10.99+tax and I have it in my hand immediately.

if I wanted to wait, Rock auto has the motor craft part for 6 bucks or so, but then you have to get it shipped...
