Looking to see 235/40/17 on a CSVT

Yes, I have been using that size for several years on my 2000 CSVT. I currently have Kuhmo SPT's, but have also used Fuzions and Yokos. I used the Focus Euro wheel, which has the right offset so the wheels fit. I also have the full BAT suspension, so it is somewhat lower, but not dramatic. I also have the Warmonger big brake kit which is also no problem. I have never had an issue with clearance. A benefit you may not care about (which I did), is that the speedo remains correct because the circumference matches the originals.

Yes, after doing the math, that size is the closest to the OEM tire/rim combination size.
I will be using FSVT 6 spoke rims.
My concern though is I have read about having to literally bang something out of the way to prevent a tire rub in the rear.

I had no such issue with my wheels - no modifications were made or required. Some aftermarket wheels with challenging offsets and / or dramatically lowered suspensions could require the body banging. Especially using Ford wheels, you should be OK unless you are dragging your tailpipes. My closest clearances are at the struts and I have no rubbing.

If you want to PM me your email (your option to do), I can send you some pics - I am on the road right now and can't put them up here.

You'll want to hammer the rear "meat slicer" down. It's really simple and only takes a couple of minutes.

These are on 17x7.5 rims.

rims look sweet on the car. but wheres the grill

who needs a grill, you're at a focus meet

You don't have any rubbing up front turning sharp do you? Your offset on those wheels might be different anyhow but I was just wondering. I'm thinking this will be my size when I need new tread on the FSVTs (only 7 inches wide :()

Have any pictures of the tire width from behind the car?

I've been running them for a while. What kind of pics are you looking for? I took quite a few a while back, but I don't think they're up anymore. I'll have to search.

Found the pics, but had to re-host them. These were taken about 4 years ago. 17 x 7.5, 45 mm offset, 235/40 17 Yokohama AVS ES 100, HR springs, Koni struts. No rubbing anywhere, ever.

Using OEM FSVT wheels means you will not need to alter any part of the fenders. My fenders were previously HEAVILY massaged from the offset on my old ATS complites, however looking at clearances now I dont think its necessary.

I have a feeling ill be sticking with fsvt 5 spokes + 235 tires for a while now, Im loving the look and meaty profile.

Pud: The ATS Complites have a 48mm offset, right?

I recently noticed a little wear on the plastic fender liner retainer that's just above the bumper cover. The drivers side is nearly worn off, and the passenger side is showing some wear. It may have just been my previous alignment... but I'll roll that part up regardless.

About my oval... it's been off for a while now. I didn't strip the chrome and it began to look funny with the rocks chipping the black paint off. Same thing with the black painted aluminum grill. The chrome is off now, I just need to cut the grill to fit over my shifters, then I'll coat it all with some 94a urethane . Land movers are always dumping crap on the freeways around here.

Oh... being that a 235/40-17 tire calls for a 8.0" wheel, I'm not sure how well it'll work on a 7.0" rim.

I could never get a definitive answer as to what the offset was, but it was WAY different then the FSVT's. I have nearly zero fender liners due to the complites and 225/45's. Id be willing to bet that yours may even be a different offset then mine were if you've fit 235s.

Hmmm that's true I have a tire shop by my house that is willing to give anything a shot though :) They'll try them on there at no cost to me whatsoever if they don't fit. So I'll figure it out when I go in for tires next spring.

Thanks for the pics!

They may work better on an 8" wheel, but they fit a 7" wheel fine. This is what they look like being mounted. Total width once mounted and filled with air was 8.5". Granted that will vary from tire to tire, but the hankook ventus rs2's are 8.5

A 235 will generally fit on a 7" Wheel fine. I have a wide 255 on an 8" wheel and it works fine too... generally you get better utilization of the tire if you mount it on the ideal wheel size but you do get gains running a bigger tire on a smaller wheel to a certain point.

The contact patch width that the tire manufacturer lists will be on the recommended wheel size and that will change with a differing wheel size. However if you're just driving around on the street it won't really matter for all intents of purposes.
