Guys,
I need some longer wheel studs and know nothing about them. What is the ones that I need? I added a 1/4" spacer and I am a little worried that the factory studs are going to be short. I am using the factory lugs with them too. So post a part number please.
Thanks,
Bill

You might be alright with the OEM studs. I know H&R sells spacers in 5mm incremements and I don't believe longer studs are needed for the 5mm spacer kit.

The rule of thumb that I have read in multiple locations is minimum 8 turns once it starts threading. So, measure your stud, measure your thread spacing, and buy a set of studs that is STUD+8*THREAD SPACING with the original diameter and thread pitch. You'll need a caliper probably.

lol, I dont even get that on my GL with stock studs and E0 SVT rims.

Yeah, I don't think I did either, but that's what they say you need, so why not, if you've got to buy new ones anyways, unless then your lug nuts won't thread on all of the way. He is using my stock lugs, so I would think that they should be deep enough, but I don't have one that I can look at, at the moment.

makes sense. what I am saying is pure mechanical design calculations on a thread are based on one thread engagement

That's true...but would you drive your car around with all of that force concentrated on one thread, when you could have it evenly distributed across 8?

I had to grind off part of the back lip on the studs because I could not get if over the lip on the back of the hub. When you get them you will see what I mean. I went to my napa and ordered 16 but got 20 for some reason. Came out to 42 bucks and change.
