little dissapointment @ dragstrip

his name is demon....and he ran a 13.4  I loves his car.....ultimate sleeper
I backed it up (close I was heavier) on street tires even! 13.67 @ 102+ With a 2.1x 60' time. I thoroughly believe that sticky tires mean NOTHING on this platform. I have broke the stock axles on street tires 3 times and drag radials once. (only twice at the track btw!) The stock FWD setup SUCKS for launching. Your best bet is to slip the Holy Hell out of the clutch to get a fast 60' time. Your best bet is to run high air pressures and reduce rolling resistance to maximize your 2nd half 1/8th mile ET. I picked up a few tenths using this philosophy.

For ref. The last time I broke my axles at the track I had a sub 2.0 60' time. I can only imagine what 1/4 mile I would have run "with good shifting" had the POS FWD not failed me? I broke a shifter cable at the track too if we are keeping count. No shifter issues since I altered the tower base (in cockpit) and upgraded the tower on the MTX though. (knock on wood!) Then again I no longer tend to speed shift the 1-2 transfer much either. Too afraid to shell another axle. Then again I just did that a couple weeks ago on a shift to 2nd. :help:

Thanks for the info.
I think any FWD sucks for the strip but if I was drag racing this car regularly I would still use drag radials----they will be stickier than any street tire even at higher pressures and save the tread on your street rubber.
BTW, what were your mods to run that time NA?
I am curious as I'd like to build up a 3L in the next few years (not planning on drag use though) and that trap mph is impressive.
Thanks man.

That is just the fastest NA tour, not the fastest one overall (albeit one of the nicest ones overall in my opinion). I can't claim to know who is the fastest ever but I know of someone who has beaten demon's time with a 2.5...

It was well built with FI though and the driver should be very familiar to everyone on here.

Here is a quick reference.

oh of course, joey holds that record.:troutslap:. 400whp!. hard to compete with that.

I think there was another person who ran a 13.2 on here as well. IIRC there is a guy on NECO who hit a 13.1 or 13.0 on nitrious with either a 2.5 or 3.0...can't remember exactly

I ran a 13.2 as my best of the night as well.. this was at 14-15psi and with just at 400whp as well, like Joey's at the time.

I know someone who is only a pound of boost from that right now, too.. but doesn't really care to be a dyno queen.

I too agree on the dyno queen. I don't think he was being a dyno queen though.

Oh well either way i forgot who got the car but it was indeed a 2.5l contour running the adc kit that hit 400whp...ijust don't remember his name. I have his pictures somewhere.

Either way 2.5 400whp is impressive!!!!!!
but that was 401fwhp on 109 octane (330fwhp on 91 octane). The first forged 2.5 did 388fwhp with 2-3psi less boost and on 91 octane. That one also didn't have as many go fast parts (stock svt UIM, smaller throttlebody, boost controller not holding boost) as Suneils 401hp setup. With that stuff resolved, I'm sure the first forged 2.5L would have done better than 400hp on pump gas.

thank you....kind sir. I couldn't remember his name for the life of me.
