Ok guys this sounds crazy and I have yet to see it with my own eyes but here goes.
So my car is a '98 SVT Contour. I installed the Koni Sport Kit(springs and struts) a few months back and the right rear suspension has been making noise so I decided to get it checked out while it was in the shop for new tires and alignment. Upon hearing the noise the technician said it was the strut for sure so I had him take it out and take it apart. According to him inside the strut assembly there is no strut rod! Thus the noise.
I have yet to see this with my own eyes because the car is back at my home town with my dad while I borrow his car at school. Hopefully I'll be able to see what he means on Saturday when I go home.
Has anyone ever heard of anything like this? The ride was a bit bouncy and stiff but I just figured it was inherent with the setup.
Any input would help. Trying to figure out what to do.

Thanks all,
Chris

Never heard of that before. But, I would contact Koni and get a refund. I pretty sure it is lifetime warranty. Hopefully when my Koni's go in a week or so they will work correctly

Ive heard of koni strut blowing a few times. That happened with RandyCSVTs car, but since you have a lifetime warranty with Koni, they happily replaced it..

Just dont break the rod at the threads. the *******s wouldnt replace mine  they said it must have been over torqued, there is no way it was over torqued:mad:

my buddy blew one and bought a brand new pair for the front. after a few weeks BOTH of those blew. needless to say he is pissed.

And how do you know your rears are blown? I think mine might be by the noises I'm hearing. It's either that or strut caps.

MAJOR ass sag and clunking around if I hit a piece of sand in the road.

The other day I had a couple ladies in the back seat and I thought my tires disappeared into the wheel wells.

My new setup for SZ is going to be:

Koni springs
Koni struts
Roush 21mm sway bar
Reinforced rear subframe
Tubular control arms
Boxed main arms
Spherical rod end links
Stainless steel mounting hardware

Mine doesn't sag but man does it clunk. Now I have to source a set of POS struts while I send these to Koni. Then pull those and put the Koni's in. teh suck!1

I thought the same thing, which is why I almost bought a whole new kit, then was going to warranty mine and sell them, but you don't have to do that.

At your digression you can either send your units in for evaluation and have them replaced or request replacements in advance
at half of list price. If replacements are made in advance KONI will charge your credit card prior to shipment and
refund the purchase price after the units have been accepted as a warranty. If the units are not accepted as a warranty the
returned product will be returned to you and the charges will remain on your credit card.

That's the problem I'm worried about. I think mine leaked a while back, but I ignored it. Now, by looking at them, no way to really tell.

Hate to pull them to replace the caps and then find it's not the solution to my issues. It's not a huge deal but it's not where I like to spend my weekends. We can compare clunk noises at SZ. LOL! Don't replace them yet.
