I'm a troll

I drove a Corolla S...

Congrats! I've always loved the Corolla S of that gen.

Personally, I would of spent a little more for the XRS model. Rare and quick (170 hp) with a 6 speed upgrade.

It's a Ford forum so you'll get bashed no matter what you say. If you like it, that's all that matters.

Congrats on the new car. I sat in one of that generation - couldn't get the steering wheel to face me properly. It had an odd wheel-to-seat sitting position or something. However, I have driven my friend's '02 S, previous generation, and was very comfortable. I do not personally know any Corolla owner who disliked his/her car.

3" thick isn't bad at all for a car that old. My first Contour was owned for only 5 years and the repair/maintenance documentation is thicker than that. It is also why I don't have a Ford for my daily -- though to the SVT's credit it has been extremely reliable (ignore the sig).

Should have stayed in the family and gotten a Zetec MTX

I'm 6'7", so I need something that I fit comfortably in. I was almost literally in the back seat of my 'tour, which wasn't that great of a ride. The Corolla was the very first car I checked out after selling the 'tour, and happened to be the one I went back to. I also had a budget that didn't go good with the type of cars I really fit good in. I also wouldn't have gone with a Zetec MTX, because I wanted something with a leftover warranty. This Corolla has the remaining 5yr 60,000 mile drivetrain warranty, which is plenty for how often I drive.
All of the dealerships had 07 and 08 cars, but I really needed an 05 or 06 to get the price down to where I needed it to be. This Corolla is stretching it a bit for me, but my dad agreed to cosign which gave me a really good rate, and lowered the monthly payments to right where I wanted them to be. I just couldn't pass up the deal!

The first mod that I will be doing, is putting my Kenwood headunit in, since I took it out of the 'tour before selling it.

With you being 6'7'' you probably look ridiculous stepping out of anything besides a truck or suv. Reminds me of the Simpsons from way back when that huge guy got out of his VW bug lookin thing. Not to flame, but to me thats a total chicks car. Whatever makes you happy is what counts:shrug:

OH, I'm getting about 30 mpgs too.... with a v6:cool:

I surprised myself sitting in it. It is very comfortable. If I somehow get another growth spurt, I'm screwed though lol.

Congrats on the new car. Everyone has a reason for choosing the car they have, and if you like it then that's all that matters. That said, thank God it isn't the new "hey-look-I'm-Camry-ugly" Corolla! Man I hate them almost as much as the Camry! Enjoy the new ride and don't be a stranger.

I'm planning on staying here, I enjoy it although I don't post all that often. I've always loved the look of the CSVT, and all the calendar worthy pics that are posted. I had a chance at getting a T-Red one awhile back but decided against it because of my height. I'll be supporting CEG when the 09 calendar comes around too!!!

I'm not dissing all 'tours, just mine. They are a fun little car. Mine just had many many problems the first few months that we had forgotten about since it was so long ago. It pretty much had to have a whole new interior put in, minus the seats. The carpet was cut too small, and couldn't stretch, so they put all new carpet in, the seatbelt adjuster broke on the pillar, then the pillar on the opposite side had to be replaced after it broke lose, had a new shifter knob put on. The heater blower motor quit working within the first 6 months, the spark plug wires melted at the ends.
Then when I got it I had to replace the upper radiator hose, after it got a hole and leaked, 2 re-manufactured transmissions, a tranny cooler installed, 2 balancers.

That is a lot, but it also was a first MY vehicle, which tend to have more issues...

I think you probably fit well in the Toyota because it's so tall. They seem to be unusually tall to me.

Glad you're happy with it!
