first off im new to this place, i tried to search for answeres but i didnt find anything. im also not sure if this is the right place to post but here gose.

so i let my step dad use my contour (98se, V6, 5speed) and he could not get the key out of the ignition, so i went out and he bent the crap out of it. the key ended up snapping off with a chunk still in the igniton. i removed the lockcylender, dug out the chunk, used my spair key to reinstall it, pluged everything in and trieed to start the car. light come on, car crankes over but dose not fire. acts like the fuel pump went out. from what im told there is a chip in our keys and if the car dose not read the chip it wont supply the car with fuel...

my question is, can i reprogram my key?( iv started the car before with this key, i know it works ) or the car? do you masters have any advice or suggestions?

thank you guys

is the second key you are using a PATs key? One reason it may have started before using the spare key is because you also had your original key nearby. If it is not, there is an easy and cheap fix. Tape the back of your original key to the bottom of your steering column. Then any copy you have will work.

anyways, this is the thread you would have found if you tried the search button hidden in the bar along the top 3rd from the right and typed Pats Programming
