I'm not sure who all would be interested in the ability to tune their own vehicles but I figured I'd throw this out to everyone. I'm good friends with someone who is developing tuning software and hardware for Ford vehicles. He has laid out the framework and everything already to do most Mustangs and is currently developing the software to tune the SVT Foci.

I've seen the capabilities and the interface of the software and it's definitely better than SCT's setup. The software used is called Binary Editor and it allows live flashing of the PCM with the car running which is awesome for tuning.

So here's the deal with it, he wants to know if there would be any interest from the Contour guys in a setup like this. There's a lot of time spent developing the software for each strategy or PCM type and he doesn't want to invest the time only to have a product that there is little interest in. I'd have to verify pricing with him again but I believe the package deal with flasher runs around $5-600.

If people are interested I'll have him get on here so he can better answer any questions you may have about the hardware or software.

yeah, I think that would be pretty cool. SCT has the pro-racer package, but for the price, this sounds pretty good, especially if its user friendly.

I talked to him and it sounds like he will be developing this on the side. I'll update you guys as he progresses. We'll probably be using my SVT as the test car for it. :D

awesome... I would love to be able to change things myself as mods dictate. thanks man, and definitely keep us in the loop.

It would be interesting to see snap shots of the interface. At $500-600 for a price... it's pretty close to the cost of the SCT PRP ($349) and X3 tuner ($329) if purchased together for a total of $678. I would need some convincing to switch from a proven setup.

I was over at his house the other day to do some work on the tune for my SVT. The interface for tuning and making adjustments via his software are set up but he datalogging interface portion still needs to be done. I've had some issues with my SVT and finally tracked them down to a bad EGR vacuum solenoid. I need to square away some things on my car and then my SVT will be the test platform for this.
