i should have just put my SVT stuff back on, lol.

i got joey's fuel rail mod, but now i can't find another fuel rail (since i ruined my 04 rail trying to modify it myself)

i got an 05 escape rail but that doesnt work, the fuel press. regulator is on the end of the rail and is in the way of the passenger motor mount. at least i have chris to the rescue (blackcoog) he's gonna use his magic to shorten the rail up so it will clear. i wish i had the oxy-acetelyne and stainless crap for brazing like he does, then maybe the one i was modifying woulda worked, lol. i hate full 3L's!

Why didn't you just flip the stock taurus rail around like I told you? Clears everything.

if i could go back and do it again i would go full 3L in a heartbeat. i dont know if i would even bother changing the cams over. i like to wind it sky high but that uses a lot of gas so i kinda like the idea of having awesome mid range power. we will see with the engine im building for 98contoursvt. full 3L escape engine. we are gonna try the intake as well.

i think both setups can be good... i'm just talking about the work envolved though. i would rather port the heads than do all this fuel system crap. lol

tricker,i plan on doing a full 3L. is the fuel rail the only issue you've had? so basically i need a 04 taurus/sable rail?

I have an '05 taurus fuel rail if anyone wants to snag it from me for cheap.........

05' rails have the fuel pressure regulator on the end. it won't clear the passenger side motor mount. the 04 will. you just flip it around the other way and away you go. BUY JOEY'S lim mod. just do it. don't try to make your own, its a 350$ fuel rail to buy from a dealer, and thats with the tousley ford discount!

yes you need an 04 rail. the cool thing about that rail is it's HUGE and should be good for lots of HP if you have a boosted application.

the only thing you have to do with the 05 escape manifold is mount the coil pack at a remote location. i just put mine in the firewall but the clearance between the plugs and the intake manifold is about 1/8" in the rear so i'm afraid the engine movement might be flexing the firewall and could break something. i'm gonna fill the rear mount to make sure it can't move enough to hurt anything. it already has poly mounts in the front.

Does that '04 Taurus rail work for late model CSVT returnless systems as those systems use an electronic transducer on the end of the fuel rail.

I got a '02 3L and we just flipped the rail around. it was tricky. You just got to cut some of the plastic covering on the wiring harness.

Is this true of the '04-05 Taurus manifolds as well? I keep reading that, and then I find pics of '04-'05 engines like this one that have the coil pack mounted on the front valve cover:

This is listed as VIN U, I don't know if that matters (I keep reading about VIN S, but all of the engines I've found are U).

EDIT: I'm an idiot. That's a Vulcan, isn't it?

Your crazy. Ask Pud how much extra work we did to make everthing go. Rookies

Yeah seriously!

lets see... Block off the ports, tape up the holes, buy die grinding bits, match the ports, glue the plates down, mock the SVT manifold up, install the throttle body and bracket, blah blah blah

OR

flip the fuel rail, block off the EGR and install the 3 liter throttle cable.

LMFAO. The second Joey came out with the fuel block he obliterated 1 of 2 reasons for port matching ( ease of install ). The only one left is aesthetics! "ahh but pud, you port match for power!" WRONG! you slow little nancy pants. 04+ full 3 liters make more power and drive better!

Unless you're chroming everything and want to polish out the svt intake manifold you're about a quarter short of smart if you pick the port matching.

All these people doing these port match swaps is pushing me dangerously close to dropping in a full 3 liter into my girlfriends svt in a weekend and out powering all these set ups!

I challenge anyone to post up a part of the full 3 liter install that can't be solved EASILY.

i have a car you can borrow.

Coming to SZ? I'd love to drive it again! (I'm sure you don't drive it like I told you to ;))

is it necessary for the sensor that is on top (the one that doesnt have a plug in it) to have a vac line hooked up to it. Because mine has had a mishap and did a lil melting trick on me :nonono: also with the fuel rail mod. Does anyone no where i can get that lil plastic fuel attachment piece
