i hate full 3L's.

Coming to SZ? I'd love to drive it again! (I'm sure you don't drive it like I told you to ;))

I haven't been able to drive it like you told me to...I normally like to get to know a car a good bit before I do anything and by that time it snowed and the roads have been horrible ever since. I am chomping on the bit to take it out on some back roads this spring though. I did take one 40 mph corner at a slightly higher rate of speed in Oct because I figured it would be the last time I would get a chance to do something like that. Flat and in control the whole the time.

is it necessary for the sensor that is on top (the one that doesnt have a plug in it) to have a vac line hooked up to it. Because mine has had a mishap and did a lil melting trick on me :nonono: also with the fuel rail mod. Does anyone no where i can get that lil plastic fuel attachment piece

Nope, it doesn't need to be hooked up to anything.

The only one left is aesthetics! "ahh but pud, you port match for power!" WRONG! you slow little nancy pants. 04+ full 3 liters make more power and drive better!

All these people doing these port match swaps is pushing me dangerously close to dropping in a full 3 liter into my girlfriends svt in a weekend and out powering all these set ups!

I challenge anyone to post up a part of the full 3 liter install that can't be solved EASILY.

I seem to remember trying to beat that fact into your head even after you drove my full 04 3L with 3L Cams, but at least you finally saw the light . Oh and yes put a 3L in Days SVT:cool:.

I would love to try a full 3l but i'm scared since I have a boost car and everybody say 3l cams don't flow up top well in boosted applications. I wonder what it would be like to drive a full 04 3l on boost with all that midrange torque beside shredding your tires to death.

Who says this? The reduced overlap on the later 3L cams compared to the SVT cams, while having the same lift should be great for a turbo application. I wouldn't bother with SVT cams in a turbo car unless I was building a max power effort race engine, and even then, I'd probably go for a custom ground cam set if I was spending the level of cash necessary for an engine like that anyway.

I hated that car because of the lightened flywheel and stage 3+. What a horrible combination. You need some weight behind the flywheel when you use a clutch that grippy

It was a Spec3 not the Spec3+ and I enjoy a car that is a pain to drive (part of the reason I want to burn my stock SVT clutch so I can throw in the Spec3 I have sitting here) :P.

I see a lot of talk about 04+ engines
ive 'blew up' my current '02 taurus 3l, what are the difference between the 02 vs 04? as far as what you have to change and all that? would it be more work to put in the 04 now?

im planning on putting another 02' taurus in mine again (ya i wrecked another engine lol, and found another 02 duratec engine) what are the difference between the 02 vs 04? as far as what you have to change and all that?

coolant passanges where revised and made larger. iirc the cams are slightly different. basically its just an evolution of the previous motor so there are some improvements. might be something with the pistons also iirc.

The '04s have a different upper intake manifold, improved cams, improved PCV system, etc. An '04-'05 full 3.0 with stock exhaust manifolds can put out 200whp no sweat.

yeah the 04 is way better. but i don't like the 04's PCV system so i didnt use the valve covers. i ran the older style off my first 3L

From what I can tell... she mis shifted and over revved the crap out of it? The new engine is in now. We got an '01 and did the full 3L swap again.

I haven't ripped the old one apart yet...but when I took the oil pan off to see if the oil pickup was the problem, everything was good and tight on the pick up tube....that was the only thing I could think of at the time...
