was oc, then av then oc again then finally av, now
k, im not sure i'd even make an offer, here's the scoop:

98 silfro svt, 66k miles, original owner....normal wear n tear for 10/11 yr old car...just going by pics worst wear is svt floormats which r trashed. owner admits to a few scratches

brullen quiet catback, intake, aftermarket 17" wheels

most records kept, says car is in 'excellent' shape....asking price $4995...if i buy i'd pay cash or cashiers check

my biggest concern is that it would be my dd, (80 miles round trip to work) and eventhough mileage is comparable to other cars im looking at, it is quite a bit older at this point, and i have a bit of a fear of it going belly up me

just based on that what do u think??? decent price or should be less?

What are your other options?

What are your other options?

Lots of money for a non stock old car indeed. Although those parts are cool, stock is usually the best way to go when buying used. Experience has shown that the more modified a car the greater the chance for problems.

But what are your other options, you need to consider the context? This is an old man writing, but unless looking cool is important to you, you might consider newer cars that get great gas mileage. I am pretty sure that $4 per gallon gas will happen again this year and with a 80 mile per day commute that will be important.

And if you live in the rust belt, newer is ALWAYS better.

Have you seen the car yet? Clean carfax? If it's rust free and in excellant shape like he says, that's a decent price.
