... your life involved contour/cougars/mystiques?

I was just thinking about it and there has been a contour in the family since 1996 when my father got his 95 SE. Each one the family has gotten we still have.

so thats 13 years of contour involvement. :help:

99 mystique purchased 6 years ago after I totalled my 92 tempo 2dr. Mystique was the biggest pile o crap as far as reliability and acceleration. But man it handled so tight. Its many many problems brought me to this site as well.
 
Got a 98 Contour Zetec for a friend did the timing belt and a few other things in and really liked the car. So then I got my Mystique about 2 years ago, then blew the engine up in my old zx2. Bought the 95 about 10 months ago, trying to have it bought and built within 1 years time.
 
January 05 99 t-red cvst 89,000 miles. once i popped the hood I prayed I never have to work on this motor. were is the alternator? how do i change the spark plugs in the rear? damn this thing has 4 O2 sensors! and were are they? this is coming from a guy who just wrenched on simple pushrod 5.0L mustangs. and now going to a quad cam front wheel drive car, it looked pretty difficult to work on. since then I have a thrashed chiltons manual and a fresh 3L motor and this addiction to this forum.
 
1996 - first time I sat in a Contour, on the showroom floor, while my dad was signing paperwork for a '93 Taurus. I recall the pop-up cupholder being the most interesting thing in the world at that moment.
1999 - decided I liked Ford Contours simply for the pre98 taillights.
2001 - Parents decided my sister and I needed a vehicle. Saw various cars at various dealers. I test drove two T-red Contours at two dealerships; brought one home.
2004 - bought said Contour from parents.
2005 - sold. Goodbye, first Contour. I still miss you.
2007 - Hello SVT. :)

The model has been "involved in my life" for 8 years.
 
I like rouar's set up:

97- dad bought a t-green mystique.
98- traded the 97 for a newer t-green mystique.
99- drove the mystique to the local authorized SVT dealership to look at the SVTC, only one left on the lot. Turned the key and he said "Im sold"
05- Signed over the title to me.

So indirectly: 8 years
directly: 4 years
altogether: 12
 
well I had my SVT since early october 0f 2007. but I have been lurking these fourms long beofre I ever brough my SVT. Cause I already know about the SVT contour, and it was 1 of the many cars I have wanted since I got my permit lol!! But I seen them since they 1st came out the mystiques, since the father works at a lincoln mersury dealer, So i seen them since day 1, and liked the car!!
 
I got my contour 6months ago. And before that never cared for ford.
But now i love my contour i couldn't live with out it.
 
sense my daughter's birthday in July of 97 when we took delivery of our 95 Mystique LS RIP:cry:
 
the last 4 and a half years,
Parents bought me an se for my 16th birthday,
1 year later got an svt
2 years later got a 3L
1.5 years later got a mustang
 
1 year and 8 months for the contour and 29 years for the cougar.Back in 1980 a friend of mine had a 1968 cougar with a boss 302,it would lay about 200-250 feet of rubber in a choking cloud of smoke with ease!!! :cool:
 
Over 11 years.
Bought mine new in 98.
After a 3L, tranny, full suspension, it drives really strong so I think the length will just go longer.
 
My Mom got a 1999 SE Sport in March of 2003 after all the mounts and roll resistors went out on our 1992 Mercury Topaz. I went to my first meet less than 24 hours after we got that car. She still has it and It get used when my car is down for repairs.

I inherited my Grandmother's 1994 Mercury Sable in October of 2003 and promptly sold it two hours later so I could drive out to Ohio the next day to pickup my 95 SE with a bunch of mods. I sold that car to Hector in August of 2004 when I moved overseas.

I moved back to the US in May of 2008 and picked up my 98 SVT 3L in September/October on 2008. Six years and three Contours.
 
10 years ago this week, I first test drove a Contour. One month later I got my '95. Since then, there's always been a Contique in the faimly.

Incidentally, today is my SVT's 10th b-day.
