ok since I can't contain myself any longer, here's what Mike and I are getting for the rec-room downstairs, aka Mantown:

I JUST ordered this:
Sony DAV-FX900w
5 disc dvd player with wireless speakers.

Tonight we go pay for this sucker (not the car!):
Sony KDS-R60XBR2. 60 inch

Last week we bought a reclining loveseat with cupholders and shizzle. It's a Bob's cheapy, but it looks pretty sweet, and is super comfortable.
It's dark brown leather, and then a lighter brown microfiber on all the cushions. We were torn between that and theater style seating.
(not the entire sectional, just the loveseat on the left - it's better looking in person and in the room)

Pics shall be posted once we get it all crammed into the house. ;)

Definitely would prefer the loveseat over the theater seating. I've seen theater style for cheap on Craigslist every so often because people realize they are impractical for spooning while watching movies. Dunno if you anticipate that in Mantown anyway but eh.

Sectionals FTW IMO but that loveseat sounds sweet too! Love the TV and speaker setup.

EDIT: In B4 the edit! Good it's part of a sectional .. room for expansion (if the room permits it)!

spooning? eww cooties! ;)

This seating was cheaper than buying two separate recliners, but is wide enough that we still have our space.

h8 furniture shopping!
That was the most frustrating part in all of this. We've been everywhere for months trying to find something that looked good, not girly or grandpa-ish, matched the room, was comfortable, but also affordable. Even the stores going out of business had ridiculous prices. hmph!

me and the gf ran into the same problem when moving in together, it sucked! damn furniture, who really needs it?

schweeeeettt!!!!

just dont watch HD porno on that size tv....you see all the imperfections magnified!

hehe

Good luck fitting it all in the basement! If you need help, gimme a shout.

I also got my furniture at Bob's. All the other places were ridiculous. It's a couch, not a friggin car. First living room furniture I ever bought (thanks to the folks' hand-me-downs.

 :dizzy:

The acoustics should work out quite well in that part of your basement (somewhat enclosed area, low ceiling).

Are you hosting a SuperBowl gathering? :D :D :D

Wow, I love furniture shopping. Although I usually just shop Craigslist. Practically my entire apartment was furnished from Craigslist .. my personal favorite is the 1980s teal wavy 3-pc sectional I got for free (it's very clean and in great condition minus windowsill fading, was practically unused). :)

You're like Mike's brother - he LOVES sectionals.
His g/f just shakes her head and gives thanks that their apartment isn't large enough. :D

Keep your schedules open for St Patty's day - it falls on a Saturday this year.
Everyone we know always takes the good party dates - Halloween, Cinco de Mayo, etc, so even though we're not Irish, March 17th seems a good enough excuse to have you all over for some eats and drinks.
We won't have the bar up yet, but we'll make due. :)

Forgot to talk about how tonight went. Tv has been purchased, just waiting on the call for when it's ready from the warehouse.
We're hoping the tv and stand will be available for pickup Thursday or Friday this week.

Sony is doing a deal through January 07 for 0%, 2 year financing, no fees, no money down. So get on out there and buy a tv whydoncha. ;)

Mine is about half the size of a "normal" sectional. Took only two trips to move the entire thing in my parents' tiny Forester with nothing on the roof! The wicked comfy green blob in the other pic is Thunderwings (don't ask, the previous owner sold it on condition the name stayed, she actually had her old TDRWNGS license plate on the wall above it) and I got for $25. A little eccentric but most excellent (and cheap) for furnishing the living room.

Back on topic. Will keep the calendar open .. sounds like a good time!

matty that sectional is kool!!
there should eb a rule that you cant sit on it unless you are wearing white pants, a pastel shirt with the collar up, and boat shoes!
hehe

lol Elky, crank the Miami Vice!

That's actually much nicer than I was expecting to see. Looks brand new!
Your apartment looks good.

haha .. topic hijacked, sorry Kim. :) If anyone ever suggests a Boston trip, I'd be glad to host, I'm less than 500 feet from a T Red Line stop. No parking here though, which kind of defeats the purpose of a car meet.
