"homemade" turbo kits??

Hey guys, I've been reading posts here and there and visiting sites like NPG looking at different turbo kits. I have a pretty straight forward(maybe even stupid) question. Has anyone tried mounting a turbo in the Ypipe area?? Leave the headers however you have them and make a custom Ypipe to mount a turbo. Boost would go along the passenger side to a FMIC, and back up the regular way. Has this been tried before?? That's what I've been thinking anyway, any opinions??

PS Im not building a race car, planning on staying with my 2.5L, just give it a little "boost" in the 7psi range...

I believe someone is doing this right now, I don't remember his name though. I think he has been working on it for over a year now though.
