Hello all my question is, is there a wiring diagram somewhere or an info anyone can post on connecting engine wiring harness back into car?

to make a long story short, i have a friend that took it out and he was going to rewire everything in it because a lot of the wires were cracked/shorting out, well he had to go out of town and wont be back soon, so i had another friend rewire everythining in it now he has to put it back in, he hasnt tried it yet but will maybe next weekend and told me it wouldve been easier if he had taken it out so he could know where all the connections go. Anyways does anyone know if there is info online or diagrams? ps im not a car kinda guy so any info regardless would be appreciated! Thanks to all

You can find the Ford factory Contour/Mystique wiring manuals pretty cheap on ebay. They are model year specific and extremely detailed. If you just need the engine harness, there is a pdf file of the 2.5 enigine assembly on here somewhere, just can't find it at the moment.

The manuals will not be very helpful for what you are doing. If you have a general idea of where the major sections are suppose to be be, most connectors will virtually fall where they belong. Pay attention to the natural contours that the harness has developed over time. That should take care of 80%+ of the connectors. Any that you can't find or figure out, post a pic in this thread and you'll likely have responses in minutes.

Also, I am not specifically aware of any connectors that are interchangable. So, you shouldn't be able to hook anything up wrong...it just won't fit.

Can someone name this sensor please?

I showed these to a friend and they told me it could be either for oxygen sensor or a plug that goes into the crankshaft position sensor? Anything will help

PS the 2nd pic takes a bit longer to load but shows the inside of the plug it has 2 little prongs sticking out

Certainly not the crankshaft position sensor. That is on the lower front of the motor, down by the crank pulley.

It very much looks like an oxygen sensor with the male portion broken off. You should have one the same color on the front of the motor to compare it with.

Get the broken part out and you should be good to go. Assuming that your oxygen sensor is not the one that is broken.

You are incorrect Adam that is the knock sensor plug and half of the knock sensor stuck inside of it. I goes on the rear on the block by the firewall on the side that the trans meets the block area.
