I downloaded the owners manual for a 1999 Ford Contour... but the SVTs must have a different fuse box setup as the picture in the owners manual doesnt match what I have under the hood of my car, so Im hoping that someone else with a 99 SVT can help me out....

The # on the sticker showing the fuse layout is: 93BG-14A076-FD

Now in the Fuse #7 spot it shows a '!' in a triangle with a picture of a book beside it which I would guess means look in the owners manual. There was a 7.5A fuse there that is blown. What is this fuse for and what is the proper amperage for it?

Also I dont know why but the sticker shows a 30A fuse in fuse #8 spot, yet it looks like there isnt even a spot for a # 8 to stick in.... as the spots that do take fuses have little red pieces the fuse pushes in to and fuse spot #8 does not have that.

Now my other question is what is R1 for? It is the square relays, not a small fuse. But again in the 99 Contour manual I downloaded the R1 is fuel pump, but that must not be it with my car as the R1 is missing and my fuel pump is working? Anyone know on the 99 SVT what R1 is for? And what, if anything, should I stick in there?

Hope this makes sense...

Thank you... turns out I have the 1998 fuse box.... and the fuse #7 fixed my ABS light that was on!! A+!!!

well more correctly you have a return style fuel system and a early 99. That is one style, the other style is on returnless fuel system cars which are late 99-00 cars.

Just out of curiousity what are the pros/cons of having a return style fuel system/early 99 as compared to the returnless/late 99 system? And what exactly does it mean.....?

its easyier to get an aftermarket fuel pump to work (i beleive) because the fuel that isnt used simply flows back into the tank on a return style.
on returnless the pump is told my the ecu when to flow more or less at certain times

something like that

not sure if i would say pros and cons ... it is what it is. As noted the return fuel system is normally more reliable due to all the issues with the orginal returnless pump setup. Other then that am not aware of any other pros or cons
