I'm replacing the front pads and rotors today.. What size tool do I need to take the apart the caliper to allow myself enough room to put the new pads in?? I've got the entire caliper off right now but can't tell what size the bolt is and if it's a hex or torx?<<<

Help!

(I've searched my ass off!)

I've seen both even on the same car

you should be able to put the pads in the caliper with the caliper bracket still attached.

but the slide pins are a 7 mm. but if you have the caliper/bracket off the hub together you can just slide the caliper off the bracket and not remove the slide pins.

I've got the entire caliper off right now...

Just use a spreader tool, or a couple pieces of flat wood to pull apart the caliper enough to get your hands and the new pads in. You may have to open up the brake fluid reservoir under the hood to allow pressure to escape, to ease the job of pulling apart the caliper.

You don't need to disassemble the whole caliper to get the new pads in, at this point. (only if you had left the caliper on the hub, and were removing the disc)
