headlights won't turn off!!

my headlights say on when i shut the car off and turn the light switch off.they won't turn off. the fog lights and side lights turn off but the low beams stay on. i have changed nothing to make it do this. what would cause this. and what will fix this? really sucks i have to unhook my battery at work at nite just to shut my lights off. as soon as i hook it back up they are back on.. would thid just be the switch on the dash not working anymore? or the switch on the steering colume? and what would the part # be for the dash switch? need this fixed asap!!!!!!!!!!!
 
According to TeamFordParts.com you are looking at $54 for the switch. I think it would be worth while to find a used one at a salvage yard. I can't imagine one being more than a few bucks. Some salvage yards around my area will sometimes just let you have small parts. If you can't get to a salvage yard in your area or dont want to pay $54 for a new switch I could look for one locally and ship it to you. I shipped a rear dome light to the Pittsburgh area for under $3.

I'll vote for faulty wiring UNDER the switch. They'll turn off if you turn your highbeam switch on and off, trust me you'll see. You blew a fuse as well, check which one on the interior you blew and replace it.
 
i love this site!! i am going to rip it out tomorrow and hit the junk yard. got on about 1 mile or so down the road. going to get me a switch. maybe a new relay also just in case. how come teamford parts say that part # is only for 95-96 with fog lights are they all the same?

pop the relay out, for now, and swap it with another that uses the same part number.. see if that new item stays on.

even if not, your lights will go off, and you won't drain your battery.
 
about that. sometimes they don't wanna come on. i gotta turn them on and off for a couple minutes then they come on. however the driving lights and foglights alwas come on just the low beams.. high beams always work also... well just got home from the jnk yard and got that switch just gotta put it on now. also got me se foglights :) and door handle trim.. it was a good find..

would you knwo the part # for that relay. i gota bunch today at the junk yard but none of the cars i got them from had the same fuse box as i do.. so i am not sure i got the rights one.. what is th e number on the relay???
 
bad headlight switch...

same dealio (kinda) happened to me... when I turned the lights off they came on and when I turned them on they went off... everything was backwards but they never truely turned off unless I unhooked the battery.

changed the switch to a new one and it worked perfectly again... I think I got a new Motorcraft one from RockAuto for about 25 bucks.
