I have had issues with the car briefly powering down for several weeks, today the od light started flashing and the car briefly shuttered and check engine light come on but did not come out of od , somedays the car will hiccup once or twice, many days it runs fine, have done all the routine maintenace but now suspect it is a sensor issue, can checking for codes identify the problem sensor? hate to have to go on a hunt and peck mission.. no other issues as far as hard shifting, speedometer issues and even the od light went off once i turned off od and then put it back on.

Need to get it scanned. Depending on the code, it might be your trans letting you know to plan it's funeral.
