well i just replaced my outer tie rods and need an alignment. i was told by Steve (BK4293) that Firestone's lifetime alignment was the way to go. i would like it to be done every time i switch back and forth from my winter to summer tires. they are on different size wheels and want to make sure everything is perfect. that and just in case i do something else to the car. but with all the horror stories i hear about Firestone I'm kinda scared to let them touch my car. the Firestone it would goto is the one on Roosevelt Rd in Glen Ellyn, IL.

The only thing adjustable on our stock suspension is the front toe correct?

we had one car that got all new brakes and shocks and everything was shot in a year so i would never let them put their parts on my car. that and i do my own work. i hate shops so much and i don't want some damn kid joyriding.

just wanted to hear some of your thoughts.

The whole concept of "lifetime alignment" is for them to have an opportunity to sell you something for your car, usually alignment/suspension related. The unfortunate thing is that often you are "sold" things you may not even need. Sometimes they even claim that the "lifetime warranty" will be void if you do not replace the parts they claim you need.

Be very careful.

well i did expect them to tell me things like "you need new ball joints" when i have now replaced them all. but voiding it, thats not cool. but for sure i will talk to them extensively before i buy it.

Theres one Google Review for that particular Firestone on Google maps

I actually took the Zetec to the Firestone in the city on Belmont off of Austin and those guys treated me like Gold. I think I had four alignments done in a year and a half time period and they never gave me any hassle.

I also use the Firestone in Glendale Heights for the Pontiac Grand Prix and they are pretty good with customer service.

When you go in and ask a price, ask them if they have any coupons or specials going on, It worked for me on both Contours and even the tires on the Grand Prix.

well i went in today and talked to the service righter. talked to him about all my concerns and the restrictions on the lifetime service. he assured me i could take it in like 10 times a year. he gave me it for $129 from $160-170. i told him nothing needs to be inspected and such and how i do all my own work. also that I'm very particular about my car. after having the talk with him. i left my car there. i also asked him to give me a print out of the specs after it was done. everything seems good. ill let you know later today when i get it back.

well i thought i would let everyone know that they did a great job and the print out they gave me is all in spec.

the one local to me did a :censored::censored::censored::censored:ty job. they tried twice and didn't get it right. also the drivers side tie rod was stuck so instead of getting it free they made all of the adjustment on the passanger side. I didn't like how the car felt either. Plus I asked for some toe-in instead of toe-out and they couldn't do that either. The print out I got from the place I normally go to showed how piss poor of a job they did.

I now only go to the place I use to go to, which is about 1:30~2 hours from where I live and where my father has been going for years ...

well i just changed my outer tie rods so they were not stuck anymore. and I'm glad this Firestone knows how to do an alignment. the only other service I'm going to ask them about is if they will match tire racks price on blizzaks.
