Okay so i know how to bypass it, thats not the problem, what i was wondering was does the sound get better even without a new amp to replace it? i have a new HU and all but i dont wanna do the work if i find out at the end it sounds worse untill i get a actual amp

Most on here say to bypass the factory amp, I assume that's what your asking about. I still have mine however and it sounds good to me and anybody else that has listened to it so:shrug:

an aftermarket radio has a build in amplifier that has more power then the stock factory amp. just bypass the factory amp and it will sound fine.

When I first got my SVT I hooked it up using the factory amp since the previous owner had done the same and it was the easiest way to go. After listening to it for a while it seemed to lack the sound quality it had in my last car so I bypassed the amp and ran it of my head (an Alpine) It sounds noticeably better ! Cleaner, punchier, more articulate, plays louder with out distorting.

Yea, I was planning to use preamp-outs and utilize the factory amp, but instead bypassed it using the Stickied how-to, sounds a thousand times better than that pathetic stock amp.

well seeing as the factory speakers, premium sound or not, are 20 watt speakers the amps would have to be that or less. most oftermarket radios are like 50 watts x 4, or about 17 watts rms ....

ok, wasn't sure if a "pre amp" was the built in HU amp or not because mine has one, its a 200w (50w x4) JVC kd-sx780 and yeah, so should i bypass it with this amp or not? because right now i just have the stock front speakers and sub in the back that were spiced into the rear speakers instead of running those

Bypass the amp, stop over complicating things. And WTF is your sub doing spliced into your rear speakers?! Sounds like you might want to put down the tools and step away from the vehicle...

whats wrong with that? tapping the rear door speakers is an easy way to add a sub to the stock radio setup. is it the best way, I wouldn't think so. but if a proper filter is used for the sub then there isn't an issue. many amps do have a high level input as well as the standard line or low level inputs via rca cable.

best thing to do is bypass the factory amp.

He didnt say he had an amp in the back, he said he spliced wires into the rear speakers. I assumed that since he was running the factory amp still that he did have an amp in the back either.... if he does, then I suppose it makes sense.

First off your cd player IS NOT 200w (50w x 4), not even close. Its 19w x4. Only look at RMS wattage whan talking audio. "Max" or "peak" wattage is nothing more than an advertising gimic.

whats wrong with that?
just about everything. He has the front speakers hooked up to the front outputs, and a sub to the rear outputs. Despite the sub getting very little power (I dont care if its a Funky Pup, its still under powered). Hes also F'ing up the frequencies sending the same frequencies to the sub as he is his full range speakers since that HU does not have independent front/rear crossover adjustments. Also, who knows how this sub is wired and screwing with the ohm loads. As stated before, its fine to tap the rear speakers and to use it as a high level input signal to an amp with a built in crossover, but thats about it.

yeah, as long as this is the case its fine. I swear before I saw some kit to add on a sub to a factory radio that pulled its signal from the rear door speakers.

and yes I see that the post isn't that clear about how the sub is wired in. I agree i wouldn't run it directly from the rear channels with a factory amp.

My dumbarse father in law did this to his 2007 Maxima with the Bose system. (I swear he's a 14 year old moron stuck in a 45 year olds body). He just spliced the sub wires into the passenger rear deck speaker. I just said "you know you can't do that". I laughed when he showed me because lets face it, there's no helping him. Later on the decreased ohm load to one output fried the Bose signal processor... again, I laughed.
