people are talking about mixing up the caps on the heads for the cams.

look on each head. each cap has either L1 thru L8 or R1 thru R8, depending on the head. the head on one end has a 1 and a 5 on teh same side stamped on them (example: the Right head has a R1 and just below that an R5) so you know then how the caps go. make sure you have the letters/numbers going the same way as the head when you put the caps back on!

i dont know if this is some new info, or what.... but now you can't mix up the cam caps on any one particular engine!

Half of my cam caps weren't marked at all. So let me add some value to this post and repeat what most of the seasoned 3L vets have been saying. I don't care whether or not you think that the cam caps are marked at all. Buy a white out pen and mark the caps yourself. Also they need to be marked for which way they are installed, they are directional. This makes the process extremely easy and if the engine cranks easily by hand after you've assembled them then you did it right.

Tyler knows everything though. Just let him be. Like if he says a 100 shot is ok it will work out great.

100 shot progressive........ + a truck and trailer. bash me all you want, i was just pointing out, if you orient the caps the same way as the head is marked, and have them numbered out right, thats how it shoulda been stamped once it was assembled.

Yet on both my 2.5 and 3.0 they were stamped incorrectly. Nothing beats taking your time and marking everything up yourself.

Mine were marked properly when I disassembled my 3L but then again I only trust ME..... and sometimes K99ja04 (Jared). So my vote is to always mark them.
