Exaust system

Well today a police stoped me because of my exaust being altered beyod factory specs :confused: he said he was going to write a warning but he never gave me a receipt or any paper. Now my question is; is that a real reason to stop me? Or it could be b/c I had my windows down and they saw I was Mexican :shrug: I really don't even know why the exaust system is that loud, if someone can help me post a pic so I can know what it is that would be great, I can't post it because I'm doing this with my phone.
 
yes there are typically noise polution laws, and if you have a loud exhaust you could be pulled over for that. if you think you where discriminated again you should file a complaint with the police department.

what do you want a pic of :confused: is your exhuast stock or not?
 
that's the thing I don't know if it's stock or not if I can email you the pics and you post them and then see if it's stock or not
 
hate to say it salvadorr but i think you were discriminated against:nonono: i dont live too far from Hampton and i know plenty of people with loud 240sx and civic mufflers that pass by there everyday
 
sucks man. no ticket and i assume the car was legal insurance reg etc. you obviously have a dl so i would just shrug it off. yes cops can be dicks trust me i know but eh nothing to get worked up over.
 
at least you didnt get a 3 point ticket for sliding on black ice through a stop sign at midnight with no other cars around 2 days before Christmas :mad: consider yourself lucky he gave you a "warning," no harm done :)

if your exhaust is loud, if you see a cop, just push the clutch in, let the motor idle while you glide by the cop, exhaust is quiet so you never grab the cop's attention :)

LOL. I used to do funny things like that when driving by the roadside emission detectors.
 
Load the picture into photo bucket or picture trail first.
Right click on the picture and copy the URL.

Then type

And the picture will pop up!!
 
Same darn thing, but that's not discriminating it's profiling. Might have been race, but could have been 1 of many other factors. Bottom line, cops use many cues to target people or vehicles and combine those with all the laws on the books to justify pulling you over for a closer look. I'm a clean-cut white male and I've wanted to deck several cops for these pull-overs so don't think the color of your skin is always the reason.

One of my favorites...no license plate lighting...WTF? I wanted so bad to ask if his headlights were out!
 
Isn't there a db limit to how loud it can be? If so, you can measure the level it is at, then see if it is within leagal limits. No?

thats right, in CA its 95db, cannt be any higher. 98db is a large orchestra, 110 front row of rock concert. so yea, if you can hear your exhaust in the middle of a rock concert, it might be just a tad loud. btw, just like 5 secs ago, there was an earthquake here! after shock! woooo my first one ever!
 
my mustang is FAR from quiet and i have never gotten pulled over for being too loud or having an altered exhaust.
