I please someone help me I need some help to figure out on witch 3liter way i gonna go ,i found in a salvage yard :
3.0l 2009 escape with only 5580k 1400$ (240hp 222)
3.0l 2003 jaguar 89000k 1100$ (232hp 220)
3.0l 2004/5 taurus 68000k /111000k 957$ (201hp)

For the escape and jagu I need to know if i can make an hybrid whit this engine cause it boats use (vvt/cta)if i cant do a hybrid i need to know if i can at the minimum simply fit in the contour engine bay like any other taurus, escape 2004 and lower and run it with the svt ecu(and if i lost power) :(2009 escape use the (CTA) variable cam timing technology ***240hp stock) ,but i dont know if is an downgrade to put the svt cam in it ,, and also if it firts work in it cause of the cta systeme,, and for the cta systeme did i will need the escape ecu?

I thinks the simply is to put the full 3l with my cam execpt for the 09 escape im not sur about maybe they already put the svt cam, maybe new cam for the cta system,or if it still use the regular old cam ,now put mine in it is an upgrade and i will be able with a good map to get about 260hp n/a
but if i want to do a hybrid i think my front timin cover of my 2.5 aint fit on the 09 escape block
so i thinks i can only swap my cam in it,,,and this is if it fit cause of the cta system.

Anyway why put the svt head the only thin give realy performance is the cam and i think the head of the 3l can hold enouf high power without blow and the 3.0liter add 1/2 more oil passage to do not retain the oil in the head to spung bearing .

For the 2004 taurus im not sure but i think they put the water pomp at the top left on the engine i think is the same for the escape 2009 exept inside the engine they and the cta systme ,so if it the same block as the 2004taurus is suppose to fit but the last probleme is for the ecu did it will work .Please tell me that im gonna find some one who know about these engine or find a ford tech loll

The best is someone who can get me the part number difference of the 2004+ taurus between the 2009 escape. Cause i see many guy do a swap 3l wit taurus block 04 dont know if it do hybrid but the engine fit
without to many work i think ? So the real probleme is to be pretty sure that the engine have not been redisigne after 2004 -2005 to be sure it fit in the bay and to know about the ecu(cta systeme)and the cam if they fit and if it a downgrade.

On the 2003-’06 Lincoln and 2003-’04 Jaguar engines with VVT, the front timing cover mounts two camshaft position sensors (one for each intake cam).

You might want to start reading the 3l forums as it should have most if not all the info you need.

1st no vvt, that leaves the Jag out. also lincoln and mazda.
2nd. I don't believe anything newer then a 05 has been swaped in. Probably a reason for that again search is your friend.
3. I believe the taurus hybrid (which I think you mean flex fuel) was the vulcan engine. You will need to find a duratec.

wow. u said a lot. do some more research. that should get u were u need to be...

If you are going with an Escape motor it has to be an 01-05. 06-08 will work but there is a lot of changes that make the swap difficult, very difficult for ported 3L's. You are never going to get a motor with more than 200hp to work. The reason hey have more hp is because of VVT which is not compatible with the Contour/Cougar. The only exception to this would be a 2000-2002 LS motor. Read link below I put together for more info:

What fits, what doesn't, and why: http://www.newcougar.org/forums/3-0...-read-first-what-engines-will-fit-my-car.html
