I fired up the new motor in the Contour yesterday. I am geting the following codes and notice knock at idel and low rpm's. I have had the vehilce nearly twom months and it sat for I do not know how long. Could the knock be attributed to bad gas? Is there something else I am missing?

Bob

You have a misfire on cylinders 1 and 3.

Check sp wiring order again.

Note the 4-6-5 for the coil pack at the firewall side.

Also check the coil pack.

I checked that yesterday and everything was correct. The coil however could be bad.

The gas could be 6 months to a year old...may have to drain the tank. and fill it with new.

Check the Spark Plugs on those two cylinders. Could be rust (from condensation) or possibly carbon tracking (looks like white/gray lines on inside of plug wire boot). Autozone.com has a good test for the coil if you have a multimeter. Look under the vehicle repair guides.

Spark plug wires were switched for #1 & #3 cylinders. Thought I checked that yesterday. Appreciate the help...car runs perfect.

One last question...How do you bleed the coolant system?

The easiest way is to remove the hose at the bottom of the radiator. There is a compression clip wire that you can press and then pull out the bottom hose.

The "screw plug" at the bottom of the radiator is usually a bear to try and remove.
