Hi guys,

I blew the original water pump on my 1995 GL 2.0L ATX at 181,000 miles and will attempt to fix it myself, plus do a timing belt and pulleys change (last done at 120,000 miles.)

For the job I bought the camshaft alignment bar and TDC crankshaft locking pin set similar to the Lisle 37410 kit, but it has no instructions. Nor can I find any reference online on where to put the TDC crankshaft locking pin on the 1995-97 2.0L Zetec engine. Not in the Hayes or Chilton books either. Only that, "The camshaft bar and long TDC timing pin are used on 2.0L DOHC Zetec engines found in 1994-2003 Ford and Mercury vehicles." Does anybody know where you install the long crankshaft TDC locking pin on a 1995 2.0L? Hopefully somebody on this site has that info.

I like my Contour and want to keep it running. It shifts perfectly, doesn't burn oil, and has no rust. Unfortunately they are a vanishing breed. Thanks guys!

I'm beginning to think the 1995-97 may not have a threaded crankshaft locking pin hole. Otherwise someone surely would know about it. I'm starting the timing belt/water pump project today and plan to jack the car up and look underneath. Have most of the new parts ordered.Wish me luck as I've never done a timing belt before.

There should be a little plug located directly underneath your crankshaft sensor. Unscrew the plug and screw the pin into the hole until it’s seated. No need to torque it down.

Thank you for the information. Now I just have to locate the crankshaft sensor. What is the best access point to find it?
