Has any had issues fitting a stock contour EGR valve/tube assembly to the stock intake manifold and stock exhuast manifold?

When I go to connect them, I am coming up with a shortage of about an inch. If I attached the EGR loosely to the intake manifold first I cant even get the nut started on the exhaust manifold. Same story if I loosely start the nut on the exhaust manifold first, no-go on getting the bolts started at the intake.

Is there a difference between SE/SVT stock exhaust manifolds, or EGR tubes?

I don't believe there is a different from SE/SVT. however we do know that the 01-02 cougar has a different egr tube. note that people have to use the compression fitting to make the weapon R headers work with the stock egr tube since they where "designed" from a late model cougar. perhaps you have late model cougar exhaust manifolds or egr tube?

I guess it is possible, I will have to check with the parties I bought those parts from. Thanks Brapple.

Alternatively, anyone know of a suitable flexible material that could be spliced in-line on the EGR tube making installation easier? Thinking of some flexible stainless gas line or flexible copper lines.

Hmmmm

some flexible steel tube that is used for the oil drain tube on some diesel pickups would probably work well.

I can confirm as I just did this. I had to get another egr tube when I replaced the rear exhaust mani on my se. The egr I got from my main man Joe was off an svt and fit up perfect on the se.

Man, I really hope I just have a cougar manifold or egr tube to explain this 1 inch shortfall.

I highly doubt it the egr though, as I was able to compare it to a damaged SVT erg tube i have and its almost identical.

Being that the DPFE uses rubber/silicone hoses, do you think one could effectively add some length/flexibility by splicing in some high temp rubber tubing? ie Heater hose? Or do you think it would just burn through/melt?

Before the EGR haters come out of the woodwork, I need this to funtction as IL has emissions testing.
