First off, I searched and the issues in other post are not the same as mine I don't believe. The person I bought the car from told me that the relay was bad in the door, it would only roll down. He swapped it out with a different relay and it would only roll up (which seemed strange, didn't realize a relay would do that). Well, the door had some damage so I switched it out with parts car door. Trading all the guts minus the window regulator and relay from the original door. The window (parts car) never worked and I assumed it was a bad regulator. I get everything swapped over and as I am making sure all the buttons are working correctly I hit the window down and low and behold it goes down. I try to roll it back up and nada. What in the world could it be? Like I said- the window from the parts door which is now currently on the vehicle never worked before either. I am dumbfounded.....

EDIT- When I do ty and roll it back up I hear a clicking sound that is coming from the relay, only when pressing up though.

Anyone? I thought this would draw some attention due to it being a decent head scratcher.

grab the window with your hand, try to assist the motor in lifting it. Does it come up? Do you feel the motor making an effort to push it up?

IIRC, the relay, located in the upper front part inside the door, is only for the express (auto) down feature. I wonder if the window has a timing device like the sunroof? I only had mine apart once about 8 years ago. If it does it will need some kind of initial set up. If it has a torque sensor and the window isn't able to move freely, it will stop due to the overload. I worked on the power windows on my 2000 Civic a few months ago because they were moving real slow. Wiped out the tracks and sprayed some silicone in the slots - they zoom up and down now.

Moose, I spoke with Dave the day you got the car and he explained to me what happened when he swapped door parts.

It's basically an incompatibility with different years. The 98 E0 drivers door was unique because of the wire harness, master switch, and possibly the relay.

IIRC, he told me everything from the 98 door was swapped over to the 99 door except for the glass and the motor. If the relay was also left behind, it seems like you just have a mismatch in parts. I'm really not sure what's what inside the door now because I wasn't there for the swap when Dave had it, and I'm not clear on what you've swapped yourself.

I know for a fact, the original 98 door worked 100% and it was just dented in.

CSVT- I tried the relay from the original door and the window will roll up but not down. So, I have one relay that will only roll the car up, and two relay's that will only roll the window down. There is no issue with the motor/regulator- All of the parts including the window assembly are from a 98 svt now. The harness, switches, everything. I have NEVER heard of relay failing in one direction. It's job is to reverse the power essentially, and doesn't make a darn bit of sense that it fails in one direction. I am going to try and get a hold of a used one I know works and see what happens.
