Does anyone know where can buy alternator brushes?

Hi, I hope this is the correct forum for my question:

I have got a replacement alternator for my Mondeo ST24 (Duratec 2.5L V6) because mine has the battery light coming on over 5.5k rpm, so I guess the brushes have had it. I am going to replace the unit sometime over the next few weeks when I have the whole day free, likes like a tasty job.

I'm thinking though, I should be able to replace the brushes in my old unit and keep it as a spare. Unfortunately I can't find any kits in the UK so wondered if anyone has any links to stores/ebay in the US which sell the right parts and ship to the UK?

Thanks for any advice :)

no it isn't the correct place for this post. troubleshooting is for asking how to solve a problem, not asking about where to get things ... so off to the correct forum ....

you can get a voltage regulator assemble, which the brushes are apart of from rock auto.

I remember cross-referencing the number to an O'Reillys part that was just a few bucks. Lemme see if thats still around here somewhere.

The number I found was X380 for "Ford/MC replacement". I think it was $10 the last time I called and asked about availability.

Any help appreciated Dyoel182, thanks :)
.. you need to check the thickness of the copper slip rings. There's no point replacing the brushes if the copper rings have all but worn away. I got 140k miles out of my OEM alternator. Maybe someone can measure the thickness of a new unit's pickup and i've got an old worn out one, we could sticky the measurements for future reference ... G.
