Any one know? Saw the following article today, and thought it would be cool to find out if ford ever ran it there.

]In fact, GM set a Nürburgring class record for FWD sport compacts with the turbo Cobalt, lapping the Green Hell in 8:22.85. Better braking accompanies the added power with 4-piston fixed-caliper Brembos in front and vented discs with single-piston calipers in the rear. A driver-selectable competition mode with launch control can be enabled from the cockpit. Beyond that, the traction control system can be completely disabled.

ran 8:22.85, making it the fastest FWD car ever to run the 'ring. Here's some comparison times...

You would be more likely to find a Mondeo St200 time, which would be close enough to the CSVT. However, I was still unable to find one for either car . . .

Same here :(

I was just curious...

any Mondeo guys over there runnin a 3L swap? If so... one of them should out do that cobalt :D

WHAT? Its less than $20 (US?) to make a lap around the entire ring???
HOLY CRAP.. I'm headed there now!

That's what I was saying... I don't know if you took my comment as sarchasm, or what.. but I was serious.. that's an AMAZINGLY low price.

no, it's a closed track. The ring does run around and through parts of Nurburg though.

It is cheap. IIRC, it costs around 10 Euro which is about $20USD.

I saw a video not long ago that said it was 16 euro. Still cheap if you ask me. I clould be wrong however.

If you go and plan to only do one or two laps, TAKE CASH!!!!!!

I was there last year and showed up to pay with a CC and they would only take a CC for 10 or more laps. There was still over an hour left in the session for the day so I drove up to the Hotel where there was a cash machine. Took out enough Euro for two laps. By the time I returned there was still 45 minutes left in the session but there was a crash on the track. Needless to say I was unable to drive that day and I was leaving Germany the next day. So, no ring for me.

There are always tons of nice fast cars there. Saw an 05 911 Turbo parked next to an 05 911 RUF parked next to a Focus RS. Across the way the guy in the Tuscan TVR was talking to a guy with a Lotus Exige. Nobody cared to speak to me driving my POS VW 1.6 Rental car that could barely do 160kph

I live about 45 min. from the 'ring. I'm in the process of replacing the (very worn) suspension on my car, among other things, and can't wait to get it out on the 'ring. Now that I'm earning a living, I'm catching up on all the maintenance I neglected while I was in college and poor. New struts, new control arms, new end links, new engine/trans mounts and roll resistor. I'd love to find someone to gut the cats too, since they're all shot and run about $700 a piece, and there's no emission laws here. Also have to replace the parking brake cables (anybody know where I can order them?).

I'm not going to do anything crazy out on the 'ring either, 'cause I'd like my car(and its parts) to last me a couple more years at least. I do think I'm going to sell her over here though, and buy something newer and faster when I get back to the states.

Peace.
