Daytona Coupe progress

I hate shiny stuff, no chrome, no polished aluminum. I learned my lesson after I had a battery fall into the fan of my 69 F100 and blew battery acid all over my $150 Ford Motorsport polished valve covers. I hate my ceramic coated headers that are shiny, so Im gonna wrap em. The block is Ford blue.

Josh, I understand what your saying about the bling under the hood and Hectour and I just watched a show on Speed this past weekend where they had a Factory 5 34' Hot Rod and it too had black valve covers and air cleaner and it looked good. Are you going with a crinkled finish on them?

On a sidenote, we can't wait to see the Daytona on the Dragon with us next year and you know what, we might have another wild ride or two out there with us already. The guy who went last year with the S2000 w/teal wheels has blown his engine and is now installing a 2JZ single turbo into it, so there's another BEAST and we might have the guy with the Mirage that's right-hand drive w/ a 4G63 in it. Just a little more motivation for your project, can't wait till next year already.....especially since its 14 out right now!

My valve covers are trick flow black shorties, my water pump is powdercoated black. The panels are coated in duplicolor truck bed liner so the are wrinkle type finish.

Factory Five had a small event in Tampa earlier this year (one of the offices of Mustang Monthly/Corvette Fever/Stupor Chevy/etc is in Tampa) and they had a few of their kits there...it was very cool...

Keep in mind shiny isn't necessarily the same as reflective...I hate seeing an engine totally chromed - gaudy...However, there is NO depth without reflection...Chrome isn't the only way to achieve shine...Regular auto paint will easily withstand 250 degrees, so if you choose carefully, you can use that...

Its around 290 adv duration on intake and 305 on exhaust. .540 lift. Its for a 2500-6500 rpm range. It should peak around 5800 with the dual plane intake I have on it.

MY old Chevy street racing car had an operating range of 2500-6500 rpm and I too used a dual plane intake, specs were very similar but my cubes were 406, so I suspect your car will not only perform great but sound great too, especially at idle!

Rear hatch is done with the exception of weatherstripping ,went with locking hinges instead of gas struts. Hood alignment is perfect now, and its coming off this weekend to get brackets glassed in. Gotta remount my HID ballasts and finish my wiper motors this week, also ordered some 3M Di Noc carbon fiber vinyl to recover my dash instead of the black wrinkle paint. This thing is almost ready for primer, thank god.

Heres the latest edition. Had some period correct Raydot aluminum mirrors mounted on it, couldnt see crap out of em. Found some Kawasaki ZX14 mirrors on ebay, decided to give em a try and love the way they look. They will be painted body color.

Thought about that Roger, but I think they would stick out like a sore thumb if I painted em white. Plus, rubber and road grime would eat em up in a second.
