Hey guys, i blew the clutch out on Tuesday, and well, now since i'm goin to the track at the end of the month, my wife is "making" me get my trans fully built before it goes back in the car. Ended up buying a trans off of Mani (torsen and shift forks already installed), and am having it gone over by my wife's boss (owns a trans shop and builds racing transmissioins)

Things i'm going to be doing with the engine out:

1. Replace clutch, pressure plate, slave cylinder. Resurfacing the flywheel.
2. Trans rebuild with Torsen limited slip, upgraded shifter forks, new syncros
3. Sanding down all the rust in the engine bay and repainting it.
4. Re-sealing my oil pan and timing cover on the motor. Oil leak is causing my alternator to stop charging at idle
5. Painting my valve covers, upper. intake manifold, and motor mount bracket.
6. Replacing my A/C compressor.
7. Filling my transmission mounts with Polyeurithane.

Here is a progress shot after an hour and a half.

All fluids are drained, just about everything is unplugged, Y pipe is off, RR's are out, and a few other things that i cant think of right now. Should be out tomorrow by 1pm or so.

Nice, transmission is always a great thing to have on a modded car!

And I got an A/C compressor for sale, its in great shape. PM me if interested.

The guy i bought the car from brought me down a good one about a week after i bought the car from him. Hopefully that one will work for me. Thanks for the offer though! :D

i know it's too late but it's too bad you didn't go with a lightened flywheel or atleast have your stocker lightened a little. it really transforms the car.

I have atleast a week until i get my trans done, so i have time to get it lightened. I'm thinking of just getting it resurfaced and calling it a day.

Update: Got the motor and trans out by 1:30, started at 10 this morning, so total time 5 hours. Not so bad for my first time i guess. I'll have pics up later.

I would actually recommend getting a few pounds shaved off the stocker. It winds up a little heavier than something like the fidanza, but still lighter than stock. Best of both worlds really...much faster revving but no driveability issues.

If you do spend time on the track, you will definitely appreciate the difference.

we shall see. Kinda pushing my budget already with buying another trans and having it rebuilt, re-sealing the engine, and installing the new a/c compressor.

Pics!
