Since migrating to VBulletin5, the site had noticeable performance problems. Over the past two years, we have worked to fix the problem. I'm happy to say that the performance is now near, or at, its best.

Steps taken:
- New server and migrated from PHP 5.x to 7.x.
- Upgraded VBulletin5 from v5.1 to latest. VBulletin5 underwent a significant code cleanup in v5.2.
- Upgraded UBBThreads from 6.2.3 to 7.7.5. (going from 2003 to 2020!)
- Rebuilt forum configurations, channel settings, permissions. This removed a bunch of stale configs from older versions of vbulletin.
- Fixed email settings that were causing posts to hang.
- Rebuilt forum theme. This also removed stale configs and broken paths.
- Removed stale files and other backend configs.
- Disabled unused plugins.
- Rebuilt database. Removed stale tables and databases.
- Reconfigured mysql engines.
- Pointed database tables to new engine.
