ok, now that we've seen ED come through with the carbon fiber splitters, we can discuss having them make other parts.

Hoods: we can easily have an oem hood reproduced. we just provide a hood and they copy it. easy yes, but im sure most dont want that.

we can have one custom designed. of course, the problem is that we can never get more than a few people to agree on any one design. and we sure as heck dont plan to make 2 or 3 different hoods. so the majority would have to agree on what would be done. and the problem with going TOO crazy in the design is that it can take forever for it get done right, as we saw with the splitters. i do have a CF cowl hood in my possession. we could copy that hood and just eliminate the vent as some suggested before. just make it a nice smooth cowl...

copying is the easy/cheaper way to go. having custom stuff done is possible but it takes longer and costs more $$ since theyre mold desinger would have to spend hours on it. this just means the final cost would be more. and im not sure how many people would be in for a hood as it is.

trunk. the one that was made before was blech imo. id much rather have a stock style trunk. but then, is it really worth paying $$ to have a cf version of the stock trunk?? and this is another one that gets widely debated, on pre98 vs 98+. with or without spoiler, etc...
i just saw that csvt49 is looking at making these so i may pass on this. unless we decide to do a different year (ie 98+).

fenders? really worth paying hundreds of dollars per piece? you'd need TWO of them lol. wouldnt make a huge weight difference. whats the stock fender weigh? 5lbs?

side skirts. we could have exact replicas of the stock side skirts made (without the jp covers). a more cost effective way (as i discussed with their designer) would be to have the side skirt be the same for both sides. so there is only one mold to be made. so it would be slightly custom. same basic shape but the arched part more in the middle so it can be used for either side.

we're currently looking into having the aussie shade possibly reproduced.

and of course, people always say they'd buy a certain part if it was made but when it comes down to it, maybe 1/3 of those people actually will. so we have to do something that will be a sure seller. i think enough hoods could possibly sell. does anyone currently sell cf hoods??

mirror bases!
Id be in for a set of those, side skirts might be taking things a little too far for me....some sort of insert for the back of the bumper to replace/cover the black bottom section would be cool too.

Mirror Bases or Covers
Cowl Peice
Imrc Cover Again
Covers for Overflow Bottle,Power steering,Brake Fluid and Fuse Bocx Covers

Rear diffuser FTW!!!

Hahahaha, but anyways. I don't think the sideskirts are a good idea. Too close to the ground to worry about getting all banged up.

Ive always wanted to have some carbon fiber inserts for the headlights. First saw the idea in an Autoweek magazine, the cover car was the Opel Astra Xtreme. Cant find a close up like they have in the magazine. This would be a long shot since everyone that has already baked open their headlights would have to again. It would look so much better than painted inserts.

I would hands down purchase a:

CF IMRC
CF OEM style hood (I currently have a CF cowl hood). I think a small cutout over the intake would be a nice touch. I would prefer one without wiper nozzles.
CF 98-00 trunk
CF sunroof delete. Most SVTs came with sunroofs and the motor is prone to breaking. Remove dead weight from the worst place to have it- the top of the car.

i would most deffently pay the money for a oem stock looking carbon hood and even a trunk if we could ! i think that you cant go wrong with some plane looking carbon parts that everyone will like. who needs a ugly bump in the hood or a big lip on the trunk
im in for sure on
1-hood
2-trunk
3-and what ever you call it the plastic part that is on the front of the motor

THATS EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT WHEN I FIRST READ THIS POST!
Win!

I would be down for a few things.

1) IMRC again for sure!!!!!
2) Rear bumper piece.
3) Hood
4) interior pieces for sure.

Guy's keep in mind these have to be pieces that in all honesty are worth making. It cost's a lot of money to make molds for each piece. I think a hood, trunk, rear sunshade etc are all good ideas, making small interior pieces most likely would not happen. We need to be able to make enough off of these to cover mold cost's etc and with small pieces that could take a long time.

Think about volume. Just as everyone keeps saying, "these cars are now owned by starving college students." it's easier for people to afford $150 of interior prices, vs. $400 hood. I think we'd see alot of interior prices sold, as no one has done it in volume.

This is very true.
