im going to go crazy, i cant remove my factory cd player!

i have the ford tools and i cant pull it out. it wont budge!!

anyone know of anything else i could do?

Make sure they are going in all the way. And when you pull it out, really pull the tools away from each other as you pull. I have never had problems.

I did, I tried everything lol

I know there going in, if I push to hard they go inside. I'm also pulling away because I'm starting to bend the rings

So frusterating

Can you pull the trim out with the radio still attached? I could on my 95 and the little pocket under mine is just clipped in and pulls out with hand pressure.

Whats a bfh? I tried pulling the trim out but I busted a clip so i stopped.

When I try to pull it out it's like everything wants to come with it.

I tried taking out the stock CD player in my car recently. It didn't go well. While inserting the radio removal tool, I accidentally bent something inside which kept the radio stuck in place. I tried for a while and ended up breaking the trim around the radio.

I just brought the car up to Best Buy and let them go to work on it. They have a $50 flat rate for car stereo installation. The tech ending up removing the pieces that surround the radio in order get it free. IIRC, it took him about 2 hours.

If I didn't mess with it to begin with, it would have taken him 30 or 45 minutes.

Dont be afraid to bend/break the removal tools. You can make more with wire coat hangers, I did this for a friend's focus when the removal tools werent handy. If it feels like its getting caught just start removing plastic pieces and be careful not to break them. And the tools do go in the holes a considerable amount.

I'll try it again later today, I already broke the stock cd player all to hell but whatever.

Maybe if I have someone pull on it and I try to wedge it with a screwdriver or something...

Are you wiggling it in all directions as you pull? Its kind of awkward to do as you manipulate the removal tools.

Yes, there's play from left to right but not from top to bottom, unless I stick a screwdriver underneath it or something..

I just don't want to break anything, I don't care about the cd player..just don't want to wreck anything behind there or anything

Big F*****g Hammer. are you sure that the removal are going all the way in. i had the same issue with my cassette deck when i went to install my CD player. problem was while i thought i was, i wasn't pushing the tools in all the way.

i just tried with some coat hangers, i cant get the bastard.

yes i know that they're going all the way in, sometimes i can push them almost all the way in.

it must be caught on something or have something bent in thats holding it back. when i can get the keys wedge in and i try to pull it out its like everything wants to come with it. it pulls the black surround and everything with it. i cant get the surround off though either, im afraid im going to break it, but im at the point that i wouldn't even care, can always buy a new one right? lol

Try removing the center console. There is enough room after you remove it to get your hand up behind the HU that maybe you can try pushing it out once the tools are in. Its more work but its worth a shot

I probably would of charged you an extra custom $20 for making my life harder....

If the locking tabs are bent out, this won't help you much.

Save yourself the frustration of broken trim and take it to a stereo shop.

Remove the center console, if you have one. Remove 2 screws from the lower trim, follow the trim down to by the Cig lighter. Dash trim should be pressure clips, remove dash with radio in it, remove radio, re-install dash. Re-install center console.
