Ok, so I bought a new car a lil over a month ago, and since then, the 'Tour was just sittin at my hotel that I work at. A week after getting the new car I was gonna try to get it home so i can clean it out and sell it there. Well come to find, I had left the dome lights on, so the battery was dead. So I go to jump it, pull the hood release in the car and its EXTREMELY loose and the hood doesn't pop at all.

I'm assuming that the cable somehow snapped. When I bought the car, there was another *broken* hood release handle under the seat. So I'm assuming that the previous owner had some sort of problem with it. But the thing is that the release and the cable both seem perfectly fine, it seems to be somewhere else along the line.

How do I get the hood open?! I tried searching with no luck. I need to get rid of this car, I need the money!!

HELP!! Thanks in advance

check to see if the cable didnt break off from the hood release.. this happened on mine had to use needle nose pliers to pull on the cable to open it

To access the hood latch, do you need to go from under the car or is there a way thru the grille or....?

Its a 98 FYI

Similiar thing happened to mine.. Buddy went to pop the hood and it seemed as if the cable snapped. So I did what you were saying, took off the shroud underneath, and got up in there however necessary and released the hood only to see that it wasn't the problem. What happened was what pre98 mentioned, didn't break in my situation though it only came unclipped from the handle... but moral of the story, try the simple/easy things first...

Alright, I was able to get the hood open. The cable is still connected. I dont know if the cable is stretched out or what. It was still all connected to the release lever and all, but it just wasn't tight. I disconnected the cable and had to pull the cable quite a bit to get the hood to pop.

Does it seem as if the cable needs to be replaced. I noticed under the hood that the cable was not where it normally would be. I tried rerouting it so that it was tighter, but it didn't seem to help. Any feedback is helpful...

Cheap and easy? Disconnect from pull lever end, make a loop with the cable so that it becomes a ring-type loop. And pull using ring-type loop. That's what I did when my Celebrity cable broke many years ago. ;)

same thing happened to me it was loose so to say, so what i did was disconnected it from the pull handle inside the car knoted it and connected it back, and it worked fine after that
